Linger by Maggie Steifvater
My Rating: 2 stars
**If you haven’t read previous books, don’t read!**
To be honest, I only got to about page 100 of this book. It failed to grab my attention from the first page. I think one of the problems was that every chapter – and sometimes in the middle of the chapter – the point of view would switch to a different character. Sometimes I couldn’t even remember what character was narrating the story. That just made it very hard to follow. Also, Steifvater never mentioned exactly how Sam was cured. It was just – BOOM – everything is better and now Grace and Same can be together. It was just odd. I would have liked someone explaining that whole cure thing at least somewhere in the beginning of the book. Overall, I wasn’t too impressed with this book. It’s a shame, because the first one was pretty good.

You’re right, but the way the author wrote Linger, time just kind of skipped. It never really explained what exactly happened to Sam after he was injected with the disease. It just kind of stated it.

Honestly, Linger is boring and hard to get through for the first 100 pages or so. After those pages are through and you are used to the point of view changes, the book becomes a lot better than Shiver was. Trust me, I put Linger down for a good 5 or 6 months before I decided to read it again. Forever, the third and final book of the series was also released a few weeks ago, but it isn’t very interesting as I’m only a few chapters into it.

Honestly, I liked this book. I can see what your saying about the point of view changing. That was just completely confusing. i want to read the third book just to see if it gets any better. These books are okay but they’re not great.

Exactly. If you read the third book, could you tell me how it is? I’m curious.

I actually did not like the first book and haven’t even tried reading the second. But from what I gathered, I think the cure is heat. Grace never transformed because she was overheated in a car, and Sam was given an infection that crates super high fever. Since he managed to survive the infection he stopped transforming. Or something like that…
