Dark Amethyst by Hailey Kinter
My Rating: 2-3 stars
Amethyst witnessed her dad’s death, and she believes that she even caused it. Her life is spiraling out of control, and Amethyst thinks that she shouldn’t deserve to live anymore. Her mom and brother, Todd, try so hard to make her realize she should live. Will Amethyst ever realize the truth?
Anita and Demetre have the worst experiences, first a guy with a gun holds Anita hostage and Demetre barely makes it out alive when saving her. Then, someone sneaks into their house in the middle of the night and something unimaginable happens. In the end, they both meet each other again.
I’m really not sure how to explain how I feel about these stories. They were really deep. I mean, I’ve read Ellen Hopkins books and stuff like that, but they weren’t has graphic and blunt as this one. And the paces of these stories are really fast. One second Amethyst wants to kill herself and a few pages later she’s becoming happy with her life. I don’t know… After these two stories, there is one more and a few poems written by Hailey and others. Overall, these stories were alright.
