Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
My Rating: 5 stars
Rose Hathaway was made to protect the Moroi vampires, just like all the other Dhampires. Dhampires are a mix of human and vampire, where Moroi are mortal vampires with a special connection to earth’s magic. Moroi must be protected all the time from Strigoi, the vamps that never die.
So, for years Rose knew that she would be dedicated to protecting her best friend Lissa Dragonmir, no doubt. And that’s not easy. Since Lissa is the last Dragonmir, the Strigoi want her to be one of them. They both ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy for two years, and now they’ve been dragged back. Rose and Lissa will try to continue their education like nothing else happened. Then, they both discover that Lissa has a rare power, very rare power. A power that could most likely drive her absolutely insane. While they’re back at the Academy, they both deal with forbidden love, and Rose must never falter protecting Lissa for fear that the Strigoi make her one of them.
